Introducing Kjell De Meersman
by Adriano B.

Kjell De Meersman is a 20 years old fashion student at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. His second year collection was inspired by the members of the Guinea Pig Club during the Second World War. The Guinea Pig Club was formed by patients who underwent experimental reconstructive plastic surgery, generally after receiving burn injuries in aircraft accidents. For shape and color he got inspired by the works of Roy Lichtenstein, especially his ‘brush stroke’ sculptures. The designer used materials like plastic and rubber, that he melted and draped into garnments, combined with tailored pants and his own prints.
