Into the Pages of “Cœur météore” by Damien Testu
by Anna Barr

Fashion journalist and pop culture enthusiast, Damien Testu is exposing an intimate side, his poetic side with Cœur météore, his first collection of poetry. Presented in the form of a fanzine in A5 format, it was designed as a album of songs with intro, interludes and outro.

Like a vinyl, it consists of two sides opposed and complementary, one not being able to exist without the other. Interiority is opposed to exteriority, laughter to tears and the desire to live to melancholy. Among the themes covered, we find love, sexuality, queer or mental health. The poems are accompanied by photographs taken by Marivan Martins and Olivia Ghalioungui in an intimate light that is both vulnerable and empowering. We take a peek at the poetry zine in limited print with English translations of selected poems by Damien from the original French exclusively for Fucking Young!
ANATHEMA
blood on their knife
torso pierced by
the images and ideals
of a wounded animal
hunters at their heels
petrified by fear
you push me and all i have left
my eyes to cry
their unforgiving opinions
courage in abandonment
my wounds are unhealed
i died for your sins
PRAISE FOR MY FLAWS
my sparse eyebrows
dark circles that i camouflage
the bump on my nose
the mole on my neck
the gap between my teeth
my bleeding gums
the holes in my beard
that stubborn bulge around my waist
my white legs, even in summer
my ingrown toenails
my creaking knees
my jumbled head
scars on my fingertips
my eyes open too late
my reflection in the mirror
that i no longer believe
METEOR HEART
all is not perfect
but i take in the sun and the sea
like a spoonful
of honey
i open my ears and eyes
to the deep blue
of the sky
i taste the boomerang wind
with the tip of my tongue
the salt
everything i caress is breathing
ready to hatch
burning
vibrant
again and again
to the rhythm of my body
of my meteor heart
BITE
i bite into
your smile and your dimples
i drink from the fountain
of your unspoken words
i breathe your scent on my skin
your perfume and your sweat
i stare at your irises
your eyelids and lashes
i feel your pulse
my two fingers on your neck
your heart
your ardor
your fear
your doubts
i taste it all
