El Gringo: Les Benjamins SS26 Collection
by Adriano Batista
For its second year as Correspondent Designer, Les Benjamins closed Dubai Fashion Week with a new chapter titled “El Gringo”. This collection continues the brand’s work of rewriting the dialogue between East and West.
The narrative introduces a “gringo” from the Near East, who arrives in Mexico. Through his eyes, we see a transformation. Traditions do not just coexist but merge, offering a new view of diaspora. The collection finds a shared visual language in the geometric patterns of Anatolian kilims and Navajo blankets, tracing a common history of movement.
Creative directors Bünyamin Aydın and Lamia AlOtaishan Aydın translate these cultural touchstones into modern streetwear. Their muse list includes iconic artists like Frida Kahlo and Pedro Infante, figures whose creative spirit continues to inspire.
The clothing gives this concept a tangible form. Silhouettes shift between easy and exact. Trousers are cut for motion, shirts honor classic shapes, and jackets are tailored but softened for summer. A color scheme of bold desert tones sets the stage for a mix of textures: raw linen, fringes that mimic dry grass, and detailed beadwork that honors artisan history.
For Les Benjamins, showing this collection in Dubai is a logical step. It strengthens the brand’s presence in a region where it has grown for six years, underscored by its flagship store in The Dubai Mall.
