EASTPAK ARTIST STUDIO 2016
by Eduardo G.

The competition is open!
For its fifth year, Eastpak Artist Studio (EAST) is one again inviting some of the world’s leading designers and creators to help raise HIV/AIDS awareness and funds for non-profit organization, Designers Against AIDS (DAA) by transforming a design icon – the Eastpak Padded Pak’r backpack – into a unique work of art.
This year, EAST16 kicks off with a competition to win a wildcard entry into the Eastpak Artist Studio. In partnership with Arts Thread, the competition is open to all ambitious student and graduate designers.
Participants are invited to showcase their creative talents with their own unique take on a Padded Pak’r, just like the world-renowned designers taking part.
The EAST wildcard competition gives a unique chance to mix it with some of the biggest names in fashion, such as Jean Paul Gaulthier, Walter Van Bierendonck and Manolo Blahnik. Three finalists will be chosen by a panel of judges, and will receive a production budget of 400€, two original Eastpak Artist Studio blank Padded Pak’r backpacks to use for their design, and an Eastpak travel gear package valued at 300€. One lucky winner will see their winning design sold at a charity auction, providing a great launch pad for their career, with all proceeds donated to DAA.
The deadline for entry is the 30 June 2016 and participation is free. Take a look to the incredible work of the last editions here.
