DOMINNICO‘s latest collection presented at 080 Barcelona Fashion is an exploration of genderless, sustainable fashion. The brand’s signature aesthetic, characterized by its unique blend of materials, silhouettes, and color palettes, is elevated to new heights in this collection.

DOMINNICO’s commitment to sustainability is evident in the use of recycled materials like leather, denim, and recycled hair. The brand’s dedication to artisanal craftsmanship and ethical production practices further reinforces its sustainable ethos.

The collection’s ode to freedom is expressed through its genderless designs, unconventional silhouettes, and the mix of materials like latex, recycled hair, and knitwear. The collection celebrates individuality and self-expression, empowering wearers to embrace their unique sense of style.

DOMINNICO’s vision for the future of fashion is one that prioritizes individuality and sustainability. The brand’s futuristic perspective is reflected in its innovative designs and commitment to ethical production. By embracing slow fashion and working as a Made to Order brand, DOMINNICO is paving the way for a more sustainable and inclusive fashion industry.

We had a chat with the designer before his show at 080 Barcelona Fashion and here’s what he told us:

Can you elaborate on the specific aesthetic codes of DOMINNICO that you revisited for this collection? How did you elevate these codes to a new level?

For instance, we have continued the legacy of the infamous Dominnico mini skirt and taken it to a new level, this time exploring a new material for the brand: knitwear. For the other pieces, we have adapted the cutting and sewing techniques that are reminiscent of Dominnico’s aesthetic, but this time employing lacing.

Can you discuss the significance of the pink, red, electric blue, and black-and-white color palette? How do these colors reflect the overall mood and message of the collection?

The palette is inspired by the duality of personal experiences that any young person goes through, such as living and interacting with others, making you leap from innocence to the unknown.

Why did you choose to continue working with leather, denim, and recycled hair in this collection? How do these materials contribute to the brand’s sustainable ethos and aesthetic?

As you know, one of our brand’s core values is sustainability, based on upcycling and fully artisanal craftsmanship. All the materials we use come from dead stock, and working with those is something we mastered.

How does the collection embody the concept of an “ode to freedom”? What specific elements or details convey this message?

The choice of skirt lengths or even the fitted garment silhouettes, which we always use in our collections, are already a statement of freedom. The mix of materials like latex, recycled hair, and knitwear, fused with metallic elements and laces that evoke sexual liberation in the streets are also elements that reinforce that idea.

Can you discuss the importance of genderless fashion to DOMINNICO? How do you incorporate inclusivity and diversity into your designs?

I like designing without thinking about gender, and our collections are for those who think alike. I believe that is the reason there’s such a sense of community every time we have a show or an event.

What does the concept of “slow fashion” mean to DOMINNICO? How do you prioritize sustainability and ethical practices in your production process?

To avoid overproduction of garments and be as sustainable as possible, we work as a Made to Order brand. Furthermore, production is carried out entirely in our studio, allowing us to control every step of the process. Thanks to this, we can also offer a more detailed service to our customers.

What is your vision for the future of fashion? How do you incorporate a futuristic perspective into your designs?

For us, the future of fashion is rooted in individuality, and our futuristic vision reflects precisely the feeling of being unique and special.
