Until November 5, 2025, Saint Laurent Rive Droite in Paris is presenting an exhibition of work by the American artist Maximilian Schubert. The show is curated by Anthony Vaccarello.

Schubert’s work exists in a space between painting and sculpture. His newest series, Untitled (Dissolve), features luminous “canvases” that are actually made from cast urethane resin. These are hybrid objects that do not fully belong to one category or the other.

He uses a technique similar to an old master’s glazing, but instead of paint on a surface, he builds his works from many poured layers of translucent polyurethane. This method gives the pieces their color, depth, and light.

The Paris exhibition, titled Dissolves, is a companion to his solo show of the same name in New York. Both open around the same time, sharing a title and a conceptual spirit, unfolding simultaneously across two continents.

A selection of the works on display in Paris will be available for purchase.
