DIOR Men Spring/Summer 2020
by Anna Barr

Kim Jones presented his Spring/Summer 2020 collection for Dior Men during Paris Fashion Week. Fashion is always looking towards the future, but what if there isn’t one? In a future where materials will be scarce, Kim Jones conjures up imagery of a rose-tinted Mad Max. Immediately we were transported to a sand pink world thanks to Daniel Arsham, four sculpted letters spelled out D I O R from white stone studded with pale crystal shards creating a notion of relic as the collection played around the theme of the past being the future (I like to imagine that we have a BSG fan here).
Fashion’s favorite DJ at the moment, Honey Dijon was on decks while models perfectly coiffed by Guido Palau walked out in silk obi sashes bounded on slim fit suits, high cut trousers, loose shorts, parkas with protective hoods perfect for the deserts, and several headpieces by Stephen Jones. Once again, Jones teamed up with Yoon Ahn on Dior-plate necklaces and other accessories with Alyx’s Matthew Williams.
However, cementing that the Y2K trend is here for at least until next summer were various alterations to the Saddle bag and some newspaper-emblazoned pieces holla for the 2000 Dior Couture show during Galliano’s reign. But hype beasts were all about the rubber boots with a cleated sole perfect for some desert storming.
