DICKIES 1922 by PALMER TRADING SS16 Lookbook
by Adriano Batista

Willy Chavarria has been operating the Palmer Trading collaboration business out of New York for 5 years reinterpreting his vision of some of his most admired Menswear makers including Mackintosh, Viberg, Johnstons of Elgin, Tellason, and Brooks Brothers. He began working with Dickies USA when he brought them a vintage pair of 1953 high waisted jeans and asked them if they might reproduce them in their last remaining Texas factory. From then on he has been translating the Dickies styling into what he believed to be the most elegant and classic Menswear looks of all time: the American Cholo.
The UNIFORM collection (SS16) takes original Dickies patterns from though-out the companies history and revisions them as modern mens fashion. “We all put in a uniform each day. It seems perfectly appropriate to work with the worlds best uniform manufacturer to create one that is pristinely chic.” – said Willy
Trousers mark a period in the early 1960’s when Dickies was marketing toward a preppy college student – Narrow leg openings and a thin 1” cuff. The Lapel Jacket is a 1950’s model with a short boxy body and slim sleeves. The Shorts are the 1990’s model with a wide open leg. The added deep pleats accentuate the volume. All fabrics are Japan or US milled. The collection uses factory issue marketing and the original Dickies black label. This is the only Dickies produced “fashion” collection. A word the Dickies brand is not used to using.
