Children of the Discordance Spring/Summer 2026
by Anna Barr
Japanese designer Hideaki Shikama presented his Spring/Summer 2026 collection “Enfant Terrible” for Children of the discordance, at Pitti Uomo 108. Set at Stazione Leopolda, a former train station, pieces paid tribute to rule-breakers molded by subculture rather than conformity while paying homage to the passionately unique voices of his youth.
“It was a place where skaters, DJs, bikers, dancers, gangsters, and graffiti writers all mingled in the same parks,” Shikama recalled on his early years in Yokohama . “Each person brought their own style, perspective, or skill—there was always something to learn if you took the time to connect.”
A strong respect for uniqueness and authenticity was ingrained as a result of this early exposure to a variety of influences. “DJs avoid playing the same tracks,” Shikama noted. “That applies to the clothes we choose to wear. This local code lives on in everything I do.”
Many pieces of clothing have a worn-in, sun-faded quality about them. The vibrant color scheme, a thrilling yet dusty fusion of street heat and underworld smog, was inspired by Shikama’s recent trips to Vietnam. Smoky dyes, hand bleaching, and reassembled layering are used to create alleyway scenes, textures, and hues.
