Designer Charaf Tajer joined Paris Fashion Week Women to showcase his Spring/Summer 2024 collection. There could be several reasons for this mood or it could be that he specifically chose the 1st of October which marks Nigeria’s Independence Day. Set beneath the city’s Jardin des Tuileries at the Carrousel du Louvre, which for decades was the epicenter of the fashion week, Casablanca set out to celebrate the youthfulness that is Africa.

While reflecting on Nigeria’s contemporary youth, the collection was very much absorbed by a strong 70s vibe. Not one to shy from the color, the palette was full of contrasting brights found in cropped racing jackets, netting shirting, jumpsuits, tailored pieces with a tennis flair in crisp whites, and of course the house’s staple silk shirts. Prints ranged from graphics to the new classic emblem. The mood wasn’t somber as much as laid back. Both Paris and Lagos are two cities that are always on the move yet perfectly laid back at the same time making a fitting styling anecdote.
