Balmain Unveils The House’s Main Lab Collection
by Adriano Batista
Balmain has launched a new collection called Main Lab, which showcases its innovative and surprising designs. The collection is inspired by the Unicorn, Balmain’s best-selling luxury sneaker, which debuted two years ago on the Paris runways.

The Unicorn sneaker, named after a mythical creature that symbolizes courage, pride and creativity, features a sleek and aerodynamic silhouette that blends different materials and shapes. The Main Lab collection follows the same spirit, offering a comprehensive men’s wardrobe that combines sharp cuts, bold graphics, and a minimal black-and-white palette. The collection also plays with textures, mixing matte, reflective and tactile fabrics, and balances precise Parisian tailoring with relaxed sportswear fits. The collection includes new versions of the Unicorn sneaker, in all-black and black-and-white styles.
The collection is a tribute to Balmain’s heritage and innovation, as it originates from the house’s flagship store at 44 rue François Premier, in the heart of Paris’ “Golden Triangle”. This is where Pierre Balmain, the founder of the house, introduced his “New French Style” to the post-war fashion world, almost 80 years ago.
The Main Lab collection will be first available at a special pop-up store at Isetan Shinjuku, a historic department store in Tokyo, from January 10th to 16th. The global launch will take place on January 12th, with the collection opening at 17 Balmain boutiques in the Americas, Europe and Asia, as well as on Balmain.com. Special Main Lab shop-in-shops will also be created inside the Balmain Madison Avenue and Rue Saint Honoré flagships.
