Balmain appoints Antonin Tron as new Creative Director
by Gabriel Córdoba Acosta
After fifteen years under the creative reign of Olivier Rousteing, Balmain steps into a fresh era. The French maison has officially named Antonin Tron as its new creative director, signalling a transformative shift that may redefine the essence of the brand.

Rousteing’s tenure transformed Balmain into a symbol of opulence, spectacle, and unapologetic grandeur. His vision turned the label into a statement of modern excess, a celebration of power and glamour that resonated far beyond the runways. Yet, all signs now point towards a quieter revolution.
Tron, founder of Atlein, brings a contrasting sensibility: refined, effortless, and quietly radical. His work champions movement and material over embellishment, blending technical precision with emotional depth.
Educated at the prestigious Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, he honed his craft within the ateliers of Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Balenciaga, and Saint Laurent before establishing Atlein in 2016, a label praised for its sustainable ethos and its deep connection to the body in motion.
His appointment at Balmain suggests more than an aesthetic transition; it feels like a philosophical realignment. From excess to restraint. From armour to skin. From spectacle to substance.
With Tron at the helm, Balmain seems ready to rewrite its own vocabulary, one defined not by noise but by nuance. The industry watches, curious to see how this new chapter unfolds.
Congratulations, Antonin! The next act of Balmain has just begun!
