Designer Harry Halim debuted in Paris in 2012 and since has dressed many big names including Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa, Cardi B, Billy Porter and many more. Last week he showed his Fall/Winter 2023 collection “Pagan Poetry” in Jakarta, Indonesia where he is now based.

The collection explores punk couture with strong Gothic influence. It is inspired by folklore about witches’ coven and Harry invites us to gather and celebrate love, occultism, and freedom. “I imagine I create my own coven. I want something wicked but also fun. There’s always a romance within darkness and after the last two seasons I need something fresher,” Harry smiled.

Throughout the collection, Harry uses vegan leather, velvet, and silk with a few additional faux fur and wool. Aside from staple colors of black and red, leathery brown and chestnut, he adds bold colors such as green, purple, and turquoise. Genderless items such as male corsetry and trouser gowns which earned fan favorites from the last season are explored further in this collection. KITANA boots, Harry Halim’s signature shoes, are also updated with faux fur and tube heels.

I redevelop some looks from the previous collection to be more suitable for red carpet events,” he explained. “Each color represents different characters in a coven.”

Harry Halim once again collaborated with MAHIJA, a jewelry brand by fine artist Galuh Anindita. This season brings back their signature crown of thorns, first shown in their Paris Fashion Week 2022 collaboration. This time, however, thorny accents are elaborated further in both accessories and clothing decoration.
