Inspired by the 1997 sci-fi film GATTACA, AWARE Fall/Winter 2024 collection explores the theme of genetic discrimination and human resistance. The film depicts a dystopian world where people are divided into two classes based on their genes: the genetically engineered elites and the naturally born outcasts. The collection reflects the struggle of the latter group, who resent the unfair system and try to blend in with the privileged class by imitating their appearance.
The collection features eight pieces in shades of gray and black, creating a contrast between the futuristic and the formal. The pieces are designed to express a sense of uncertainty and contradiction, balancing between avant-garde and practical, rebellion and introspection. The collection reinterprets the film’s cold and sterile aesthetic, adding elements of dignity and seriousness to the formal wear.
