Carhartt WIP x Nicholas Daley
by Adriano Batista
For Fall/Winter 2025, Carhartt WIP has collaborated with fashion designer Nicholas Daley on a 13-piece capsule collection. The project is built on a shared appreciation for music and its surrounding culture. It serves as Daley’s tribute to the iconic reggae party founded by his parents in Scotland, which ran from 1972 to 1982.
This collaboration celebrates Daley’s core values of community, craft, and culture. It also nods to his personal heritage, weaving subtle references to both Jamaica and Scotland throughout the pieces. Daley is known for functional, workwear-inspired silhouettes and an unconventional craft sensibility. His clothes carry a distinct subcultural feel. His deep connection to music creates a natural affinity with Carhartt WIP, whose iconic items are staples for DJs, musicians, and club-goers across genres.
The collection includes nods to music memorabilia, like custom pins and t-shirts inspired by his parents’ Reggae Klub nights. There is also a record bag made from an exclusive tartan, created with the knitting circle led by Daley’s mother. This tribute to ancestral craft is also seen in a short harrington jacket made from classic twill with contrasting corduroy pockets. The color palette combines deep blue, green, and mustard yellow, referencing the flags of both Jamaica and Scotland. Carhartt WIP’s classic chore coat is reimagined in a combination of navy corduroy and indigo denim, with contrast stitching highlighting Daley’s subtle modifications. Other iconic Carhartt WIP styles in the collection, like the Vest and Double Knee and Cargo Pants, follow similar design lines.
The collection also includes knitwear like a custom striped t-shirt with a chest pocket and a hooded sweatshirt with corduroy details. It features two headwear styles: a striped knitted bucket hat and Daley’s signature Baker Boy hat, made from a sturdy canvas that will soften with time. A set of incense sticks, created with Japanese manufacturer Kuumba International, completes the collection. They are scented to reflect the natural outdoor aromas of Jamaica and Scotland. Each piece features a custom woven label with a logo hand-drawn by Daley, referencing 1970s psychedelic vinyl typography and highlighting the personal touch in this collaboration.
