Since 1970, the Rencontres d’Arles has been the premier international photography festival and one of the major cultural events in the South of France. Each summer, during the opening week in early July, the festival’s fringe (known as the off—F) brings a breath of fresh air with a range of exciting and alternative events. One such cultural rendezvous is the Oulalarles Prize. Led by fashion photographer Remi Besse, this contest celebrates emerging talent and awards one standout photographer, chosen by a creative jury composed this year of Myd, Megaforce, Emmanuelle Luciani, Olivier Amsellem, and Ilyes Griyeb.

The concept? A participatory initiative where anyone can upload a photo via the Oulalarles website. The best submissions are turned into postcards, distributed freely throughout the city of Arles. The grand prize winner receives their own solo exhibition at Hôtel Présent, supported by the founding photographers of Oulalarles. For the 2025 edition, the winner is Patrick Clenihan – be sure to keep an eye out for his upcoming work.
