MANIA, the first book from Drop Books, is a collaboration between French photographer Bruno Staub and British stylist Julian Ganio. The book challenges narrow ideas of beauty and masculinity by simply letting men exist, unpolished and unapologetic, across generations.

Ganio’s casting is deliberate: older men, many of them friends or former lovers, stand alongside younger models. “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” he says, “but for me, older men are just more interesting.” His subjects (men in their 60s and 70s) are framed not as novelties but as undeniable forces: magnetic, stylish, beautiful. Staub, meanwhile, focuses on youth, capturing the fleeting intensity of first glances and the nostalgia they leave behind. “It’s about how you remember someone,” he says.

Edited by Jop van Bennekom, MANIA carries the same sharp, subversive energy that defines his work. The images feel both tender and provocative. Staub and Ganio have been working together since 2011, and MANIA reflects their shared language: one where desire isn’t dictated by age, and style isn’t something you outgrow.
