ModaLisboa is now accepting applications for Sangue Novo, its competition for emerging designers. Young talents have until July 17 to apply for a chance to present their work, receive industry support, and compete for career-changing prizes.

Sangue Novo has long been a space for new designers to experiment and refine their vision. The competition provides the tools and guidance needed to develop creative projects while encouraging responsible production. Partnering with textile suppliers like Calvelex, RDD Textiles, and Riopele, it ensures designers have access to quality materials while considering sustainability.

This edition introduces updated prizes that reflect the fashion industry’s current demands. The ModaLisboa X IED Award offers two paths: a Master’s in Fashion Design in Rome, focusing on technique and sustainability, or a Master’s in Fashion Marketing in Milan, centered on branding and strategy. The new ModaLisboa X Burel Factory Award includes a one-month residency, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. Both prizes come with financial support and mentorship, making them practical opportunities rather than just symbolic recognition.

Open to students, recent graduates, and young professionals (ages 18 to 35) based in Portugal, the competition unfolds in two phases. In October 2025, a jury selects up to 10 designers to showcase at Lisbon Fashion Week. From these, five finalists advance to March 2026, presenting full collections in pursuit of the awards.

Beyond the prizes, finalists receive funding, mentorship, and press exposure. The goal is clear: to give emerging designers the resources they need to establish themselves in the industry.
