Lucía Melús, a new designer from IED Barcelona, approaches fashion with quiet introspection. Her final collection, “At a walk, at a trot, at a gallop…”, draws from a phrase her parents repeated in her childhood, a playful rhythm that later became a metaphor for life’s unrelenting motion. Her grandfather put it simply: “Life is like a race.” This idea, of time always pushing forward, shapes her work.

Made for men, the collection consists of four formal looks with a soft, romantic quality. The clothes play with movement, volumes that seem to shift even when still, fabrics that suggest speed frozen in place. Prints and textile textures capture the unease of time slipping by, that feeling of years passing faster as we grow older. The cuts are fluid, the shapes slightly distorted, as if the garments themselves carry the weight of memory.

Details from classic menswear (collars, cuffs, lapels) are loosened, made more casual, with subtle nods to equestrian wear. Melús also uses these pieces to question the rush of modern life, the pressure to always be moving, achieving, producing. The colors are quiet, almost fading, like moments we try to hold onto but can’t.
