Soho House and Her Clique Celebrate Art and Community at ARCO Lisboa Opening
by Adriano Batista
To kick off ARCO Lisboa, Soho House and Her Clique hosted an intimate dinner bringing together members of their Cities Without Houses Lisbon program and local creatives from art, design, fashion, and food. The evening doubled as a celebration for Czech artist Marie Tomanova’s new solo exhibition, I LOVE SEEING YOU, setting the tone for a night centered on art, connection, and good food.
It was wonderful to spot familiar faces from Lisbon’s creative scene while also meeting new ones, the kind of effortless mixing that makes these events so special. The energy was warm and inviting, with conversations flowing as smoothly as Soho House’s signature spiced cocktails.
Guests gathered for a meal prepared by SEM founders Lara Prado and George McLeod, known for their zero-waste approach to cooking. The menu started with Sado oysters and Artichoke and Shiitake Escabeche, followed by Barbecued Black Pork Loin and Chickpea Stew with favas and black garlic. Dessert was a light Elderflower and Preserved Strawberry Pavlova, all paired with natural local wines.
The event highlighted Soho House’s Cities Without Houses initiative, which launched in Lisbon in 2017 to connect creatives across industries like art, music, and design. The program gives members access to Soho House locations worldwide, along with local events that foster collaboration and networking. With outposts in over 80 cities (from Bali to Buenos Aires), the idea is to build creative communities even in places without a physical Soho House.

For those in Lisbon looking to join, membership applications are open, offering a way into a global network of artists, designers, and like-minded creatives.
