Danshan‘s new collection HYPNOPOMPIA exists in that fleeting moment when you’re not quite asleep nor fully awake. This seasonless line for 2025 explores the poetry of disorientation, creating clothes that feel both deeply personal and strangely theatrical. The designers continue their exploration of vulnerable masculinity through garments that celebrate contradictions.

The collection takes its name from the hypnopompic state, that hazy transition from sleep to consciousness. This inspiration shows in pieces that blur boundaries. A simple gym tank becomes extravagant with sequins. Jogging pants gain the dramatic sweep of a gown. Hybrid blazer-bombers appear in unexpected fabrics like padded silk taffeta and transparent quilting. Traditional menswear gets reimagined with delicate irreverence.

Danshan speaks directly to what they call the “Hopeless Romantic Sadbois” – men who embrace their emotional complexity. The looks play with juxtaposition: sequined foam mattress draping like a slip dress beside casual jersey printed with both corporate pinstripes and sensual lace. Technical nylon pieces bear tender messages like “handle me with care,” suggesting strength can coexist with softness.

Many garments tell stories of layered identity. A fleece sweater sprouts a formal shirt collar. Running shorts reveal shirttails peeking out like half-remembered memories. This is clothing about the selves we perform and the ones we hide, about the versions of ourselves that only emerge in vulnerable moments.
