Ucon Acrobatics Wins “Best Vegan Backpack” at PETA Germany Vegan Fashion Awards 2024
by Adriano Batista
Ucon Acrobatics‘s Hajo Medium Backpack from the Lotus Infinity Series has been honored with the prestigious “Best Vegan Backpack” award at the PETA Germany Vegan Fashion Awards 2024. This recognition underscores the brand’s unwavering commitment to ethical fashion and sustainable design.

PETA Germany Vegan Fashion Awards celebrate brands that embrace vegan fashion and prioritize cruelty-free practices. With over 6.5 million members worldwide, PETA is a leading voice in the animal rights movement. By partnering with PETA, Ucon Acrobatics ensures that its products adhere to the highest standards of cruelty-free manufacturing while raising awareness about the importance of animal welfare.
This recognition from PETA reinforces Ucon Acrobatics’ mission to influence the fashion industry by demonstrating that ethical choices and unique design can go hand in hand. The Lotus Infinity Series, including the award-winning Hajo Medium Backpack, exemplifies the brand’s commitment to sustainability. Crafted from recycled fashion waste, this series transforms discarded materials into high-quality, durable products. This innovative approach reduces waste and minimizes the environmental impact of fashion production.

While leather made from animal skins is prized for its feel and durability, the supply chain is often associated with environmentally damaging tanning processes, animal cruelty, and industrial livestock farming. Leather production is a significant driver of deforestation in tropical countries like Brazil, as vast forest areas are illegally cleared for cattle farming, destroying vital ecosystems worldwide.
To address these issues, Ucon Acrobatics exclusively uses “vegan leather” in its products. This alternative material, often referred to as “tech material,” mimics the layers of leather through a combination of different materials, including a fabric backing, a foam layer of polyurethane (PU), and one or more films of dense PU film on the surface. However, many “vegan leathers” fall short of the longevity of genuine leather. In addition to faulty zippers, damage to the material’s surface is a common reason why customers may discontinue using a bag or backpack.

To overcome these challenges, Ucon Acrobatics developed its own proprietary material, “PUrTEX∞,” which is featured in the Lotus Infinity Series. This innovative material offers exceptional durability and quality, setting a new standard for vegan leather alternatives.
