Levi’s and BEAMS launch their fourth capsule collaboration with new super wide cuts
by Adriano Batista
Levi’s, the iconic American brand known for its timeless denim style, and BEAMS, the Japanese clothing company and retailer with a cult following, have joined forces once again to create a new capsule collection that celebrates the Levi’s heritage. The Levi’s x BEAMS Super Wide V2 collection is the fourth collaboration between the two brands, and it features new bold, widened garments that are derived from classic styles and washes from 1944.

The collection includes three items: a Super Wide V2 Type I Trucker, a Super Wide V2 Jean and a Graphic Tee. The Super Wide V2 Type I Trucker is inspired by the 1944 Levi’s denim jacket and is made from heavyweight 16oz denim with custom Orange Tick selvedge. It has just four stays, a super-wide custom leather rear patch that doubles the width of the iconic Two-Horse Pull patch, and a BEAMS-exclusive tongue. The Super Wide V2 Jean is inspired by the 501® of 1944 and is also made with Orange Tick selvedge denim developed exclusively for BEAMS. It has the exclusive BEAMS tongue and custom super-wide leather back patch. Both the Super Wide V2 Type I Trucker and Jean are available in a lighter vintage wash and a darker lightening wash, the latter being exclusive to BEAMS. The Graphic Tee is a white t-shirt that is blank on the front and has co-branded graphic prints and a screen-printed “stitched” bow on the back.
The Levi’s x BEAMS Super Wide V2 campaign features a diverse cast of 9 models posing in traditional Japanese landscapes, such as bamboo forests and cobblestone pavement, as well as in a studio setting. The contrast between the two environments creates a sense of familiarity and unfamiliarity, reflecting the fusion of American and Japanese cultures in the collection.
