For the project ‘Sistaaz of the Castle’ fashion designer Duran Lantink and photographer Jan Hoek decided to join forces. They were inspired by the beautiful South African transgenders who are roaming the streets of Cape Town. They have the ability to turn the most hideous garments into beautiful fashion pieces. The local organization SWEAT gave them the opportunity to meet with their transgender support group: Sistaazhood. They have had the honor to meet twenty girls who were excited to work with them. Based on their looks and diversity they decided to work with five of them and present this collection during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Amsterdam.
