The SS16 collection GREENLAND by BIBI CHEMNITZ again draws it’s major influence from Bibi’s birth home Greenland. This vast country plays a very important role in the design of BIBI CHEMNITZ that mixes trends and street culture from her new home Copenhagen with her Greenlandic roots. There is a overall Black & White theme to the SS16 collection, but also very bright pinks and magentas is present in patterns and prints in this collection. As always prints plays an important role in the graphic line from BIBI CHEMNITZ, this time black & white patterns of seals swimming under water, prints of traditional Inuit Facial Tattoo’s and simply the country’s name GREENLAND shows the never ending love to Greenland.
Bibi has over the last couple of years evolved a use love to cotton jacquards with patterns – this is used in the black and white SEAL styles (Hoodie, T-shirt, Sweatshirt and more), also in this collection Bibi uses a laser cut perforated polyester where she uses a layering technique to give a special look. Also in the SS16 you can find a embossed fabric with the pattern of the Greenlandic flag and graphic representation of the word BIBI – this embossed fabric comes in both black and in White.
Since the beginning of BIBI CHEMNITZ, almost ten years ago, the look, the shape and the silhouette of BIBI CHEMNITZ is a strong sporty/street with oversize and unisex elements. BIBI CHEMNITZ is very unique and has a very strong personal look that is very much her own.
