Greyhound Spring/Summer 2015 Lookbook
by Adriano Batista

To accentuate the beauty that the world still has to offer, Greyhound Original merges surrealistic representations with abstract visual language of two masters from two different periods: Henri Matisse and Kenneth Price. Titled “THE WORLD ON THE BRIGHT SIDE”, the collection resolves the unnerving tension between harsh reality and illogical dreams, procuring contentment through graphic motifs that mimic Mother Nature’s wondrous creations.
For Spring/Summer 2015, Greyhound Original ponders the endless grace of nature by crashing Matisse’s two- dimensional collaged paintings with Price’s multi-layered landscape works, resulting in the collection’s main graphical manipulation, “Panorama Landscape”, which is overlaid in a camouflage style, and accompanied by surreal colors often detected in comic books. Cartoonish characters lurk around the mountains, behind the main colors of Greyhound staple—black, white and grey—but with drops of cobalt blue, orange and brown.
Mesmerized by the mysterious landscape, the collection moves into a more subtle terrain to tell deeper stories of resolutions and determinations through color blocking and special technique of applique. Layering different colored fabrics of tangerine orange and green with white, grey and black creates nature inspired shades and shadows.
The main materials include special textured linen, which shines, but moves with charming crinkles, as well as cotton and other comfortable natural fabrics. Menswear thrives on natural fabrics from denim suits and t-shirts, and fitted with a stress of natural crinkles and raw edges to cotton. Biker jackets, sweat pants and utility shorts come in special type of linen. Printed graphic landscape sweaters are reminders of Japanese prints, and combined with Western comic sensibility which is captured by surrealistic storytelling of space and time. Slim fit and boots cut pants still remain, but an addition of wide legged trousers rounds of the wonderment of “THE WORLD ON THE BRIGHT SIDE”.
