In the Y-3 Spring/Summer 2019 collection, designer Yohji Yamamoto explores his obsession with “air between the body,” setting new standards of volume, shape, and proportion. His inspiration originates in the worlds of sailing and parachuting, which manifest in ways both literal and abstract.

For the campaign, photographer Angelo Pennetta and stylist Haley Wollens capture a cast of Y-3 faces outdoors in Malibu against a blue-sky backdrop. The collection’s loose, summery spirit comes to life in playful, offbeat, fleeting moments between the models. Their AOP apparel pieces seem ready to set sail—precisely as Yamamoto intended.

The Spring/Summer Y-3 AOP collection will launch on March 7th at Y-3 flagship stores, Y-3.com, and select retailers worldwide.
