Singer Conan Gray fronts our Spring/Summer 2021 Green Rush Issue shot by Tommy Dorfman on location in Malibu. Both Conan and Tommy’s art comes from such an authentic, honest place that just doesn’t connect with fans, but sees fans connect with each other. In this issue, we explore how we are connected to nature and the intersectionality of social and sustainable issues.

“In the end, when I think of issues as promoted in the world of fashion as sustainability, the first thing that comes to mind is freedom. Nature and freedom are irretrievably connected. Without one thing there is no other. A hostile environment will dictate how the lives of its people will be, politics, social norms, even the way of thinking and living. It is the job of all humankind to care for this planet. And you have to take care of it in its entirety and not sweep the garbage for the neighbor’s land.” Adriano Batista, Editor in Chief.

Like the excitement and optimism in the cannabis industry in recent years, the current green rush has extended to the fashion industry with just about every brand trying to capitalize on the growing green market in an era where it’s cool to care, but its also becoming a world that’s green with envy, a world where the economic divide grows, and where genuine change is under threat from Greenwashing. We talk to designer Bethany Williams who believes that social and environmental issues are connected along with
designers Francisco Terra of Neith Nyer, Tom Van der Borght, and actor Archie Renaux.

Stylists were encouraged to not only explore conscious designers but to pull from the archives, vintage, and to forget about seasons with editorials shot by: Agustin Farias, Guillaume Plas, Jan Hoek, Kapturing, Marcelo Popaj, Michiel Meewis, Michiyo Yanagihara, Simon, and Tom Kneller.
