JULIUS evolved from it’s first incarnation, then known as Nuke, which started in 1996. In 2001 Tatsuro Horikawa decided to change the name of his label to Julius in order to take his creative vision to a higher level. Inspired by Hakim Bey and his concept of a “Total Autonomous Zone” Horikawa decided to make Julius a project which allowed him to mix music, visual and graphic art in a unique and original way without outside restriction or control. The label presented a Tokyo runway collection in 2004 and then took the project to Paris to share with its international fans and supporters in 2008. Since than Horikawa has continued to challenge the traditional way fashion and clothing are presented by mixing in his love of other aesthetic disciplines each season.
