ZIGGY CHEN Spring/Summer 2027
by Felipe Castro
ZIGGY CHEN presented AMBIEPOSE, the Spring/Summer 2027 collection, during Paris Fashion Week. Embracing worn memory: the process clothes go through as time passes, environments change, and how they evolve. An ode to ambiance, shaped reality, and purpose. Textiles mirror the passage of time, with a color palette made up of linen hues, blue-grey, and a print inspired by dirty rain, local to the designer’s collections; with withering flowers as a new motif this season. The colors divide light and darkness to present shades organically aged with usage. Linen, silk, and cotton jersey make up the key materials; in parallel, rough, matte textures become an analogy to being lived-in. Air flow is essential to the garments’ flow, including its presence in denim and leather. In the time-passing theme, textures shift away from smoothness and shine to achieve the story of fading and creasing, incorporating visible time in the collection. Silhouettes are restrained volumes, allowing freedom of movement, with no strict limits as to where they should be worn, leaning into everyday wear. With “dirty rain on dyed flowers”, Ziggy Chen ponders on slow living, taking pride in time’s traces, while discovering the midpoint between atmosphere and motive.
