Balletshofer’s Fall/Winter 2026 presentation was not a traditional runway show, but a short film. The choice marks a deliberate pause from the usual speed of fashion week, creating a space for a quieter story.

The film explores a familiar feeling: the sense that life can become a rehearsal. It follows four young candidates in a stark, dystopian office, all moving in unison through a graduate entry interview. They wear the new collection. The narrative asks where individuality exists within a system that demands uniformity. As the film progresses, the seamless display of control slowly fractures, revealing moments of vulnerability and pressure.

The clothing is shaped by these same themes of alienation and routine. Tailored silhouettes echo the precision of office attire: sharp and exact. Yet this uniformity is deliberately disrupted. Angled collars, subtle irregular patterns, and woven wrinkles appear in shirts and pants. The interplay of structured and fluid fabrics, along with a muted colour palette, reinforces the cold, mechanical atmosphere of the film’s setting.

The project is an invitation to reflect on our own participation in patterns of conformity, questioning the comfort of rhythm and the unease of breaking it.
