This year, Tate Britain will host an exhibition curated by Edward Enninful, titled The 90s. It will open on October 8, 2026, and run until February 14, 2027.

The exhibition will explore a decade known for its creativity and a spirit of rebellion. It focuses on a period in Britain after the Cold War, as the country was coming out of a recession. A new feeling of optimism and freedom emerged. This was led by a diverse generation of creative people. Their work mixed art, design, fashion, and music into a single, strong cultural force.

A main idea is how old structures broke down. High art and popular culture began to influence each other. The exhibition will look at the lasting effect of the people who defined this era.

The show will bring together well-known photographs from the time. Pictures by Juergen Teller, Nick Knight, David Sims, and Corinne Day will be included. Their work will be shown alongside art from Damien Hirst, Gillian Wearing, and Yinka Shonibare. It will also feature fashion collections from designers who shaped the decade: Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen, and Hussein Chalayan.
