For its Spring/Summer 2026 collection, Stone Island continues a long study. The brand has been researching reflective fabrics since 1992. This season, that work leads to a new design. It completely changes the surface of a garment.

The piece is called the 4100062 Light Nylon Tela, Hand Sprayed Reflective hooded down jacket. It is a super-light jacket made from a 15-denier recycled nylon. What makes it unique is a hand-sprayed finish. A worker manually sprays the jacket with a reflective solution. This solution contains thousands of tiny glass spheres. The result is a marbled, icy look. The brand says it recreates the effect of frozen lake water. Because the process is done by hand, no two jackets are exactly the same.

The jacket also has a special treatment in the dye. It gives the fabric anti-drop properties, meaning water will bead and roll off. The design includes a padded hood, angled hand pockets with a hidden zip, and an internal pocket. It closes with a concealed two-way zip. On the left sleeve is the white embroidered badge. This badge is a symbol of the brand’s deepest research into fabric treatments.

As part of Stone Island’s ‘Community as a Form of Research’ project, the musician Mike Skinner wears the jacket in campaign images. He pairs it with compact nylon fatigue trousers. This shows the piece in a real-world context, linking technical innovation with personal style.
