SONGZIO Spring/Summer 2027
by Adriano Batista
Songzio‘s Spring/Summer 2027 collection, Impavide, is an assertion of unflinching composure. The title points to an interior ability to remain undaunted, and the collection brings that spirit to the surface through characters who appear as though they have travelled through time. Harbingers from the past, arriving to portend an uncertain future.
The collection advances on the dualities inherent to Songzio: tradition and innovation, structure and fluidity, protection and freedom. Asymmetric, sculptural draping is counterbalanced by armour-like layers that envelop the body. Tailored pieces are torqued and twisted, their patterns rotated to create movement and unexpected volume. Deep slit necklines, cascading panels, and bias-cut constructions disrupt conventional garment architecture, transforming tailoring into something closer to living sculpture. Body-contoured pleats and multi-layered constructions build silhouettes in stronger dimensions. The Git, a removable collar element derived from the Hanbok, is reinterpreted for today. Protrusions in the backs of jackets allude to beauty through distortion.
Volumes assume an experimental elegance through shell and cocoon forms, with raglan-dolman constructions that allow garments to swell and recede around the body. Cropped upper proportions are juxtaposed with asymmetrically draped skirts and expansive shapes below. The exploration of contrast extends to fabrics: natural habotai silk, wool linen, and organza are offset with metallic surfaces, punk-like tweed, shimmery vinyl, and paper-light leathers that appear creased and crushed. Hand-frayed edges and deliberately distressed seams evoke garments that have travelled across time. The palette moves in dramatic black and ivory, illuminated by accents of sage, citron, berry, and ink.
Accessories extend the poetic and sculptural language. Scarf ties and a signature neckline formed by ribbons threaded through belt loops carry a gentler resonance. Asymmetrically cut derby shoes with oversized soles and cutout boot sandals in patinated leather reinforce how these figures move with certainty through an uncertain world.
The show took place during Paris Fashion Week. Check it out below:
