Songzio, the South Korean designer brand, created an exclusive collection for BTS‘s comeback performance “BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE I ARIRANG,” presented in partnership with Netflix. Creative Director Jay Songzio designed the collection, which merges Korea’s historical heritage with the brand’s avant-garde visual language.

The collection is titled “Lyrical Armor.” It envisions BTS as pioneers, a new generation of heroes who carry Korean history within them while forging a new future. The inspiration draws from two distinct sources: the studded armor worn by warriors of the early Joseon dynasty, and the flowing Hanbok traditionally worn by artists and Sorigun, Korean traditional singers who transformed sorrow, longing and aspirations into poetry and folk songs.

Each costume was developed to reflect the individual character of each BTS member while maintaining a visual flow across the stage. Songzio’s signature monochromatic palette and oriental avant-garde design kept the look cohesive. Dancers, master singers and musicians were unified within a sculptural composition, forming a singular visual narrative.

Throughout the performance, the costumes functioned as a central creative element. They translated the structural beauty of traditional Korean attire into a contemporary design language, moving beyond styling to become part of the performance’s story.

The garments reconstruct Korean classical aesthetics by deconstructing traditional concepts. Elements are fragmented into abstract pieces, then cut, refined and reassembled into avant-garde silhouettes. Volumes swell and recede in rhythm with the body. Unstructured patterns and fluid drapes move like living sculptures, blurring the line between real and unreal while amplifying the wearer’s presence.
