Slava Mogutin and Oli Raptor Release “FLIP FLOP” Zine
by Adriano Batista
Bona Varda has announced the release of FLIP FLOP, a double-sided collaborative zine that brings together Russian-American artist Slava Mogutin and British-American artist Oli Raptor for the first time. The format is straightforward: start from one cover and you are in Mogutin’s world. Flip the zine over and you begin again from Raptor’s side. Each artist has 30 pages, plus their own cover, with the two bodies of work meeting in a shared spread at the centre.

The zine combines analogue photography, collage, drawings, and text, all created exclusively for this project and shot across London, Paris, Berlin, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Mexico City. Printed on 115gsm natural paper across 62 pages in a mix of colour and black-and-white, FLIP FLOP is a limited edition of 200 signed and numbered copies in A4 format with singer-sewn binding. It is published and printed in London by Bona Varda, arriving in August 2026 at £40.
“Superdelicious,” said filmmaker and writer Bruce LaBruce. “This art porn zine brings together two wonderfully perverted artists in one topsy-turvy world. Flip-flopping between personal pornographic photographs, found images, appropriated slogans, and street stickers, this filthy fanzine takes gay fornication and exhibitionism to new levels. You’d be a fool not to snap up this limited-edition piece of trash.”
Writer and curator Dominic Johnson added, “Mogutin has spent decades making photographs that treat exposure as a political and aesthetic tool. Here that instinct meets Raptor’s keen eye for sexual exhibitionism and public abandon. The title implies that the meeting of the two artists within these pages is itself a sexual act, a flip-and-flop that muddles and reverses top and bottom, give and take, mastery and submission. Flip Flop is a queer archive of appetites enacted and fulfilled.”
