wetheknot has released Scenes of Labor, a year-long exploration of work as a condition of everyday life. The first chapter, titled Hourly Rate, moves inside institutional spaces where time is spent rather than celebrated: offices, meeting rooms, cafeterias, corridors. Environments built for routine and repetition that quietly shape how days are spent.

The collection brings together eleven pieces built around a work and streetwear sensibility. A short-sleeve linen shirt and cotton shorts carry the workwear reference most directly, relaxed in construction, considered in detail. Four organic cotton t-shirts carry graphic prints that thread the collection’s themes: a small snail with the phrase “slow work still works” as a reference to the myth of Sisyphus, and a direct call to Jim Jarmusch’s film “Permanent Vacations.” A knitwear polo in organic cotton completes the apparel. Accessories include a recycled nylon shoulder bag, a cotton tote, a brown organic cotton cap, bucket hats in two colorways in recycled nylon, graphic knitted socks, and a moon-cycle bandana print in recycled polyester.

We spend most of our waking hours at work. We wanted to look at that honestly, because the things we stop noticing are usually the ones most worth questioning.” – Filipe Cardigos, wetheknot

All pieces are produced locally in Portugal in close collaboration with small manufacturers. The brand continues to prioritize responsible materials, durable construction, and production rhythms that respect both people and process.

April 8 marks the first public presentation of Scenes of Labor: Hourly Rate at the wetheknot flagship store in Alfama (Lisbon). The evening also marks the release of a special collaboration with Nat’Cool, the natural wine project by Niepoort. The collaboration results in a hands-free fanny pack in recycled nylon, designed for movement and everyday use, practical for carrying small essentials including a corkscrew while leaving hands free for pouring, sharing and greeting.
