Saint Laurent Rive Droite Beijing presents a photography exhibition by Chinese artist No.223 (Lin Zhipeng), curated by Anthony Vaccarello, on view from 6 August to 11 September in celebration of Qixi.
Born in 1979 in Guangdong, Lin Zhipeng lives and works in Beijing. A photographer, writer, and independent publisher, he first gained recognition through his blog North Latitude 23, launched in 2003, where he shared everyday photographs accompanied by short texts. The project established him as a key voice among a generation of image-makers emerging through digital platforms and self-publishing.
Known as No.223, a reference to the character from Wong Kar-wai’s Chungking Express, Lin Zhipeng has developed a practice centred on youth and personal freedom. His images capture moments drawn from everyday life, reflecting the experiences and emotional ambiguities of a generation navigating a rapidly changing society. His work has been exhibited internationally at institutions including Fotografiska Shanghai, ICP New York, MEP Paris, and Paris Photo. He was previously presented by Saint Laurent Rive Droite in Pink Matter, a group exhibition held in Paris and Los Angeles in 2022, followed by a solo exhibition in 2023. Lin Zhipeng is represented by Three Shadows +3 Gallery in Beijing.
