PUMA has reunited with British tannery Charles F. Stead for another take on one of its most recognized shoes. The Suede gets a premium version made with leather from the English company.

The shoe is stripped back this time. Original detailing stays. The colors are three: “Honey Butter,” classic black, and “Orange Glo.” The orange references a shade made years ago for Walt “Clyde” Frazier Jr., the New York Knicks player who helped make the style famous.

Charles F. Stead has been making suede since 1825. The leather is known for being soft and natural. The process takes time. Each pair comes with a hang tag made from the same material as the upper, a small nod to the partnership.

Earlier this year, PUMA set up Suede House during Paris Fashion Week. It was an open space about the shoe’s history and where it sits now. Part tribute, part introduction for people who might not know how far it goes back.
