NM3 Turns Its Milan Space Into a Four-Room Modular Home
by Adriano Batista

NM3 has presented CASA NM3 during Milan Design Week 2026, hosted in its space on Via Farini 93 as part of the Fuorisalone. The project envisions a domestic environment structured as a sequence of four rooms, with architecture evoked through a system of movable partitions. This design references the historic Velvet and Silk Café installation by Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich, where textiles and soft surfaces defined space without traditional walls.

Inside this domestic landscape, NM3 furnishings create a quiet and everyday atmosphere. The objects are both sculptural and discreet, designed to inhabit the contemporary home without imposing themselves. The furniture oscillates between form and function, emerging as plastic elements while also dissolving into the background of domestic life.

The brand is also presenting an evolved version of its two classic storage systems, NM25 and NM26. For the first time, these pieces are conceived explicitly as systems with doors and drawers, making them fully customizable and modular. Around them, a broader family of furnishings takes shape, including new elements such as kitchens and desks that extend their formal and constructive language. Three partners complete the installation by contributing intimate objects sourced from their own homes. On the floor, rugs by cc-tapis accompany and define the different environments, helping to structure the space.

CASA NM3 reflects on the role of furniture as a silent infrastructure of living: a landscape of essential objects that support, accompany, and enable everyday life.
