New Balance has unveiled the Made in USA 2040v5, a silhouette created to explore the limits of what the brand can achieve in its American factories. The model combines premium materials with advanced technologies and complex production processes, pushing the brand’s craft further than before.

The original 2040v1 launched in 2012 as a benchmark of Made in USA craftsmanship. Since then, the line has served as a testing ground for new techniques in New Balance’s US factories. With the 2040v5, that combination of craft and innovation reaches a new level. “The 2040v5 is one of the most ambitious products we’ve created to date,” said Brian Lynn, Global Vice President of Lifestyle Products. “Every detail has been studied from the perspective of craftsmanship, performance, and material quality. Without being swayed by trends, the team focused on a single goal: creating the ultimate expression of footwear made in the USA.”

The shoe is crafted with Horween nubuck leather on the foxing, toe cap, and mudguard, with embossed finishes and custom TPU components throughout. Underfoot, a full-length carbon fibre plate works alongside a second carbon plate in the medial area and a three-part cushioning system combining FuelCell, ABZORB, SBS, and ENCAP. The result is one of the most technically advanced platforms New Balance has developed.
