New Balance Celebrates Grey Days
by Adriano Batista
New Balance has announced its annual Grey Days celebration. The event runs through the month of May and highlights grey, the brand’s signature color. Grey Days includes a collection of special-edition footwear and apparel, along with immersive experiences and stories that honor the influence of grey.
Grey first appeared in New Balance’s design language in the 1980s. It was a practical choice for urban runners. While other brands used neon colors and bright whites, New Balance introduced grey as an option that blended with the city’s concrete and asphalt. What started as a single choice became a defining expression of the brand. This year’s campaign features a cast of New Balance athletes and ambassadors, including Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Darius Garland, Marvin Harrison Jr., and Andrew Reynolds. Aminé raises the Grey Days flag in celebration. Quincy Wilson narrates “The Origins of Grey.”
The Grey Days collection includes key offerings across lifestyle, performance, numeric, and kids categories. On May 1, The Grey Shop launches in New Balance stores and online. It features new grey styles including the FuelCell Rebel v5, 1080v15, P400, Coco CG2, Numeric Andrew Reynolds 993, and Numeric Tiago Lemos 1010, plus a selection of classic grey pieces. On May 8, the ABZORB 2010 launches. It is designed with versatility in mind and combines an innovative style with a familiar feel. The retail price is €200. On May 15, the ABZORB 2000 and ABZORB 5030 launch. Both models offer a progressive take on 2000s running influences and turn ABZORB technology into a visual statement. The ABZORB 2000 retails for €200 and the ABZORB 5030 for €150. On May 22, the ABZORB 1890 and Numeric 770 launch. The ABZORB 1890 draws from the brand’s historical DNA while exploring visible technology. The Numeric 770 was originally a training shoe and returns 30 years later, adapted for skateboarding and lifestyle. The ABZORB 1890 retails for €190 and the Numeric 770 for €120.
