New Amsterdam Surf Association has teamed up with Suicoke on a collaboration that brings together two ideas: new Amsterdam workwear and Japanese workwear. The collection merges the world of surfing with Japanese design traditions.

The concept started with a practical observation. Surfing in Europe means wearing surf boots most of the year. To improve grip, these boots often have a split toe or toe divider. Japanese workwear boots, specifically the tabi boot or Jika-tabi, use the same design: they fit above the ankle like a sock and feature a split toe.

The collaboration took both boots and combined their elements. Neoprene comes from Suicoke’s signature material and surf boot construction. Leather adds city wear durability. Steel trims reference New Amsterdam’s identity and its core surf spot, Wijk aan Zee, which sits next to one of Europe’s largest steel factories. The result is a work and surf boot that brings everything together. The slide follows the same design language but minimized to fit Suicoke’s signature silhouette. A slit in the sole nods to the split-toe concept. Premium cow leather mixes with neoprene, referencing both city and surf. Both pieces feature an embossed New Amsterdam name logo, cow leather, neoprene fabric, steel buckles, Suicoke’s PULSEFOAM footbed for lightweight cushioning and flexibility, and the S-WAVE LIGHT sole for durability.

The boot is meant to move across contexts: work, travel to the beach, surfing, or even straight to a party. Not recommended to do all at once, but the possibility is there.
