MAYRIT returns to Madrid from 20 to 31 May with two weeks of exhibitions, installations, workshops, talks, and public programs spread across the city. The biennial brings together invited artists, architects, designers, and institutions.

The opening event takes place at Central de Diseño in Matadero on 20 May from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. It features the Unboxing installation by Espace Aygo and FINSA, live music, and a meet-and-greet, plus a concert by Gerda Iguchi and a collaboration with Turia. Visitors can also see the (Super)Models exhibition at Nave Una by Intermediae.

Unboxing is a sculptural installation that looks at the life cycle of industrialized wood. Order, control, and chaos coexist as part of the material itself. (Super)Models, the central exhibition of this edition, explores how models shape the way we understand, produce, and represent the world through design, art, and architecture.

The public program continues at Ivorypress on 22 and 23 May. Other highlights include IBEX36: Material Culture = Global Value at the National Museum of Decorative Arts on 21 May at 7:00 PM, with Saúl Baeza and VISIONS BY. CAMPER Serrano hosts TAKK x CAMPER x MAYRIT, an installation focused on post-petroleum materials, open systems, and construction linked to biological cycles and renewable resources.

A series of talks and workshops runs throughout the festival. Pencil vs. Prompt at NEBULA addresses design and technology. Architectures as a Rehearsal for Other Worlds takes place at Infinito Delicias. I’ll Paint It for You, a podcast by Clara Escalera, records at Elisava Madrid. Sara Rivera Jurado leads a talk called Beyond the Interface: Delivering Models of Interaction, also at Elisava. Lucas Muñoz presents an Acidic Conversation at Infinito Delicias. Other participating spaces include VNT Gallery, Siroco, The Fly, NAVESIERRA, _2B space to be, Bate Social Store, and Materia Prima in Chinchón. U-TAD runs the Lazy Pot Society workshop at Bate Social Store.

Admission to all events is free. More info at mayrit.org.
