Marke Spring/Summer 2027

MARKE presented Relics & Remnants for Spring/Summer 2027, a collection that continues the narrative begun with The Owl last season. This time, the story follows a solitary wanderer who has drifted through centuries, gathering memories across shifting eras. Echoing the protagonist of Virginia Woolf’s Orlando, the figure exists beyond chronology, returning as a hermit and witness to recount forgotten stories and trace futures yet to emerge.
The collection reflects on memory and the ways it shapes perception. In an age of acceleration and endless information, it proposes a slower gaze guided by historical awareness. Across centuries of observation, the wanderer recognises recurring patterns, tendencies that return in new forms. To understand the present is to remain attentive to the echoes of history.
The wardrobe assembles as a dialogue between eras. References from the Renaissance to the present emerge as fragments. Slashed constructions recall Renaissance dress. Baroque-inspired undergarments introduce intimacy. Voluminous culottes inspired by the Rhingrafen silhouette sit alongside gestures of Victorian white-tie formality and elements of contemporary sportswear, from jogging pants to bomber jackets. Historical codes dissolve into one another, rejecting chronology and accumulating the traces of lives previously lived. The silhouettes exist between epochs, where memory and identity reshape one another.
The presentation took place within the halls of the ICC Berlin, among the final opportunities to experience the building before public access concludes. Much like the wanderer, the ICC has lived many lives: congress centre, film location, refugee shelter, cultural venue.
