Periods of progress are followed by periods of consolidation – a new normal. In the Pre-Fall 2021 men’s collection, Louis Vuitton investigates the dress codes of the current, evolving scene. With the banal by virtue, a tailoring closet is for some an inheritance and for others an aspiration. In the process of transforming elitist codes into symbols of inclusion, Louis Vuitton Men’s Collections Artistic Director Virgil Abloh studies the luxury of normalcy and what it means to settle for a post-2020 society. Combining old codes with new values, the collection portrays the comfort of a progressive and inclusive conventionality: the mundane wardrobe reappropriated for a new world order.
