Louis Vuitton Opens a Hotel in London to Celebrate 130 Years of the Monogram
by Adriano Batista

Louis Vuitton has opened a temporary hotel in London’s Mayfair district. The Louis Vuitton Hotel celebrates 130 years of the Monogram, the pattern created in 1896 by George Vuitton in tribute to his father. The Monogram has become one of the most recognizable symbols in fashion today.

The hotel is a pop-up shop that will remain open for two months. It features rooms dedicated to the brand’s most recognizable handbag designs: the Speedy, the Keepall, the Noé, the Alma, and the Neverfull. Every corner is designed to bring the Monogram and the art of travel to life. The hotel also offers restoration services for customers who want to have their Louis Vuitton pieces repaired. A personalization service includes hot-stamping of patches, available exclusively at this location.

Guests enter through the Keepall Lobby. The Keepall was introduced in 1930. Its folding design marked a new chapter in the art of travel. The bag features the Monogram pattern and reinforced leather handles. On the first floor, the Café Alma takes its name from a Parisian square. The Alma bag was introduced in 1992. Its structured silhouette draws from the Art Deco movement. The second floor holds the Speedy Room. The Speedy was designed in the early 1930s. It reflected the growing fascination with speed, movement, and the freedom of travel. The room is welcoming and bright, filled with Speedy bags. Next to the Speedy Lounge, guests can enter the Speedy P9 security vault. The room is bathed in metallic gold. The Speedy P9 was designed by Pharrell Williams, Creative Director of Louis Vuitton Men’s. The bag takes 180 steps to make. On the top floor, the Neverfull Gym takes a playful approach to the classic travel bag. The Neverfull was introduced in 2007. The name promises abundance, versatility, and ease of use. The basement houses the Noé Bar, an intimate champagne bar. The Noé bag was created in 1932 for a sparkling wine producer. The design was simple: a bag to carry five bottles, four upright and a fifth upside down in the center. The bag has a rounded base and a drawstring closure. During the day, guests can have a glass of champagne. On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, the bar becomes a Mayfair hotspot with curated DJs.

The hotel opened on Friday, April 24, and will stay open through June 21.
