LOEWE FOUNDATION Opens the Call for the Tenth Craft Prize

The LOEWE FOUNDATION has opened the call for entries for the tenth edition of the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize, which will be awarded in Europe in spring 2027. Anyone working in a craft-based profession, aged 18 or over, is eligible to apply. The application period runs from 9 July to 15 October 2026.
Established in 2016 and inspired by LOEWE’s origins as a craft workshop, the prize was created to celebrate excellence in craftsmanship in all its forms. Over the past decade, entries have included works in textiles, bookbinding, ceramics, jewellery, lacquerware, papermaking, and many other disciplines. The prize has helped elevate craft to a new level of institutional recognition while fostering techniques and traditions that were at risk of disappearing. Each entry must consist of an original work, made partially or entirely by hand, and is evaluated by a panel of experts who select a shortlist of 30 finalists based on originality, artistic vision, precision of execution, and innovative value.
All selected works will be exhibited in Europe in spring 2027. The jury will choose the winning work and award two special mentions. For this tenth edition, multidisciplinary artist Ibrahim Mahama joins the established jury, alongside Jongjin Park, winner of the 2026 Craft Prize, and LOEWE creative directors Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, who first joined the jury in 2016. The winning work receives €50,000, while each special mention is awarded €5,000.
The 2026 edition received more than 5,100 entries from 133 countries. The winning work was Jongjin Park’s Strata of Illusion, made of paper and coloured porcelain. Special mentions went to Graziano Visintin for Collier, two necklaces of gold cubes decorated with the ancient technique of niello, and to the Baba Tree Master Weavers and Álvaro Catalán de Ocón for Frafra Tapestry, made with natural and dyed elephant grass.
