Levi’s and sacai Present the Third Chapter of Their Collaboration
by Adriano Batista
Levi’s and Japanese fashion house sacai have released their third collaboration, continuing a partnership defined by Chitose Abe’s approach to deconstructing denim classics. Following two collections that explored sacai’s hybrid take on iconic Levi’s designs, this new offering builds on the fabrics and finishes of previous releases to take the silhouettes further.
The collection comprises 12 pieces for men and women, centred on four key styles, each available in rigid indigo denim and washed indigo denim: the Sherpa Jacket, the Blouson Jacket, Belted Wide Pants, and Belted Flare Pants. sacai’s aesthetic, built around contrasting textures and the reinterpretation of familiar patterns into unexpected shapes, serves as the unifying theme.
The Sherpa Jacket retains its relaxed silhouette and indigo selvedge denim, updated with a faux-sherpa finish, leather pocket details, and finishes that align with the collection’s washes. The men’s and women’s versions share the same design language, though the men’s version includes side pockets. The Blouson Jacket features a cleaner, relaxed silhouette, sacai’s signature sleeve pocket, and a side slit on the women’s version. The Belted Wide Pants have a wide-leg, mid-rise silhouette with special sacai buttons on the belt loops, while the Belted Flare Pants reinterpret the flare with a standard rise and welted back pockets layered over traditional ones to create a seven-pocket design.
