Le Labo has introduced SHIU 25, a new fragrance created for Beijing, joining the City Exclusive Collection that pays tribute to the cities the brand calls home. These fragrances are usually only available in the labs of the city they belong to, with no online orders and no exceptions. But once a year, during September, the full collection travels.

This year, the City Exclusives will be available as samples and discovery sets from 1 August to 30 September, with full-size bottles available from 1 to 30 September online, in labs, and at select retailers.

SHIU 25 emerged from the brand’s time in Beijing, and from the opening of the Beijing He Yuan Fragrance Lab in House 19, a culturally protected site in Wang Fu Central. The boutique combines Le Labo’s wabi-sabi aesthetic with traditional Siheyuan architecture, transforming the historic Beizi Mansion into a three-house experience. It is the home of the new scent.

In certain places, creation flows from stillness,” the brand notes, describing Beijing’s spaces of traditional artisanship, where shadows move across worn wooden floors and hidden gardens map pathways to presence. SHIU 25 is built around Shiu, the quieter expression of the Ho tree, known for offering balance. Iris notes and olibanum sit above anchoring woods, creating a compact composition that evokes calm. “SHIU 25 emerged from our time in Beijing, and is an expression of what the city holds for us in its traditional spaces built for quietude and inner return,” said Deborah Royer, Global Brand President and Creative Director. “This fragrance carries that forward: an invitation to find centered calm and a moment of pause in a world that rarely grants one.”

The full City Exclusive Collection will be available from 1 August, with full-size bottles following in September. Refills are available year-round at select labs at 20% off, with online refill programmes in select countries. SHIU 25 comes in 15ml, 50ml, 100ml, and 500ml formats.
